Does anyone know when he scouted? The Guides list an Andy Young scouting for the Twins through 1972. Is that him? Or is Fate his real name? --Jeff 21:11, 4 September 2007 (EDT)

I have no idea. He was listed as a scout for the Twins in the 1969 through 1972 Guides. That's as far back as I have the Guides. --Jeff 21:47, 5 September 2007 (EDT)

I can't find any Andy or Fate Young listed in the 1958 Guide. I doubt a black scout was working in the majors much before that. - --Mischa 10:45, 6 September 2007 (EDT)

Ed Scott (scout) was the first full-time black scout - that was 1962. Andy Young is listed from 1969 to 1972 and John Young is listed from 1980 to 1983 with the Detroit Tigers. Those are the only Youngs listed in the Guides as scouts between 1962 and 1986. Its possible he was more of a bird-dog. --Jeff 13:02, 11 July 2008 (EDT)
