This talks about his family moving to Salem, OH (where Carl was born) when he was still young but doesn't mention Carl specifically. When I posted the notice about Carl on the Baseball Necrology message board, Gary Bedingfield, who runs the Baseball in Wartime website and wrote "Baseball's Dead of World War II", posted this stating that they were brothers.
