Elio Chacon

Venezuelan born Elio Chacon, who was one of the original lovable loser NY Mets in their 1962 debut season of 40 wins and 120 losses was unforgettable in a special way. In an episode of "The Twilight Zone", a character was listening to a Met game on the radio. There were only a few seconds of sound on the radio that were clear enough to make out, but the name "Elio Chacon" was clear as a bell. A fitting and memorable distinction for any ball-player!!

Elio Chacon was born in Caracas on October 26, 1936 and died in his home town of Caracas on April 24, 1993. http://www.baseball-reference.com/c/chacoel01.shtml

Courtesy Richard Schwartz, Boca Raton, Fl. in loving memory of Larry Frosch, of Great Neck, NY.... "die-hard" Elio Chacon and NY Mets fan, and a loyal friend. A talented athlete in his own right who played with relentless determination. He was a true "gamer".

Graduate of The American University in Washington, D.C., class of 1968. Born July 15, 1946 - Died December 31, 2004
