Should we use the {willida08} and like combinations for players who never appeared in the majors? If this Dave Williams doesn't make the majors and another does, that other guy will be willida08 in the Lahman database and at the main B-R site. I'd suggest David Y. I've been wondering if we shouldn't have used numbers all along. maybe use willida31, willida32 etc. for minor leaguers or some such. But at this point we've doing (minors) or (coach) etc. for so long that I'm not sure we can go back and change everything. --Jeff 12:35, 19 July 2007 (EDT)

Yes numbers are less descriptive, but they keep things rather organized. We have a Tommy Thompson (minors) and a Tommy Thompson (manager), they were both minor league managers. (There's Tommy Thompson rearing his ugly head again). I'm not sure wha the right answer is. You might have been on to something with Don Johnson. --Jeff 12:51, 19 July 2007 (EDT)
