Doesn't it make more sense for this to be the page for the MLB player with a note for links to all the others (as in Frank Thomas)? - --Mischa 20:59, 28 May 2008 (EDT)

In my opinion, a note at the top of the page instead of a disambiguation page is alright when there's just one other guy (like Frank Thomas) or maybe even two other people with the same name (like Matt Williams), but once you get into three or more, there needs to be a disambiguation page to eliminate a convoluted little paragraph at the top of all those pages. In this case, there are at least four more players who went by the same name and another who went by "David". To me, this seems better than complicated little paragraphs at the top of each of their pages. Hopefully we can get a few more opinions on this matter so that a consensus can be reached. As we add more and more minor leaguers, I'm sure this issue will come up again. Thanks. Kinston eagle 06:11, 29 May 2008 (EDT)

Well, in this case, only one of the minor leaguers has a page, and it's extremely thin too. I think Dave Martinez should lead to the major leaguer, with a little paragraph at the top redirecting to a disambiguation page that lists all the minor leaguers etc. The paragraph would read something like: This page is for Dave Martinez, the Major League outfielder. For other persons named Dave Martinez, click [[here]]. That's how Wikipedia handles such cases. --Philippe 08:06, 29 May 2008 (EDT)
