Talk:Bill James Historical Abstract

I think the original BB Abstract is wonderful. I was born in '55, and as a young boy would often accompany my father, Bob Renshaw, to the newsroom of the Sioux Falls [S.D.] Argus-Leader where he worked in the darkroon after hours. He was a reporter/photographer by day. I had at my figertips the 20 year run of headlines, "funny papers", and especially box scores all residing in a huge double newsprint size book, on an equally gargantuan elevated table with bench. Besides the end of the wars in Europe and Asia et. al. during those years, what struck me most was the long, front page death watch for Babe Ruth. Truly an unwitting journey into an earlier time by a voraciously reading youngster. Thanks to Bill James for sorting out some of the mysteries of that long gone era. Tim Renshaw.
