One of the greatest-fielding catchers of all-time. Again sounds highly subjective. Do we have somebody who ranked him as such? Who says he was a great leader? - --Mischa 13:36, 23 August 2006 (EDT)

Since he won 5 Gold Gloves, I suppose that is some objective evidence. Not many catchers have won 5. Remembering back to the 1960's, I recall hearing lots about what a good hitter he was, but not much about his fielding prowess. - Randy 14:56 23 August 2006 (EDT)

[edit] Why not

Cannot understand why Bill Freehan has not been inducted into the Hall of Fame. He was one of the best catchers and a great man to boot. Not many were able to spend their entire career with a single organization. His ability to stop wild pitches and prevent scored runs was phenomenal.

I totally agree. Bill was one of the most talented catchers of his era. His numbers will attest to his ability.

five gold gloves, 12 of his 14 years in the big league,as an All Star. 1968 World Series winner.
