I know we shouldn't go too far into opinions, but shouldn't 287 wins get you into the Hall? --Just me 12:56, 21 Apr 2006 (EDT)

Perhaps we can mention the arguments made for and against Blyleven as a Hall of Famer without stating personal opinion. - --Mischa 01:54, 23 Apr 2006 (EDT)

I'm favorable to Blyleven's being elected to the Hall of Fame, but is this site the proper place for all of the "Should he or Shouldn't he?" data? It seems to me that this is too much like the stuff wikipedia would mark as improper. - Larry Epke

We've had a battle on the Jim Rice page with HOF campaigning (among others). As long as its a balanced look at a player's value, and not just a HOF campaign, I think its worthwhile to mention it. But its very easy to go overboard. --Jeff 22:02, 24 September 2007 (EDT)

I think even-handedness is the big issue. I agree it is a worthwhile topic. - --Mischa 09:14, 25 September 2007 (EDT)

I just don't get why the Hall of Fame is so reluctant to let the recent group of pitchers with 250-300 wins into the Hall (Blyleven, John, Kaat, Morris). It's not like this was a problem in the past with 20th Century pitchers, and if anything, pitchers in the last 20 years of the 20th Century had an even harder time getting to 250 wins since there were typically five starters. - Randy 22:21, 16 March 2009 (EDT)

I agree that the Hall has gotten way too picky with pitchers. David Cone belongs. Will they even give Mike Mussina a chance? - --Mischa 08:50, 17 March 2009 (EDT)

Okay so now what do we want to do with the section about his Hall of Fame canadacy (sp)? also I believe he is the first European born player in the Hall, the rest of the European born inductees are executives, does that qualify as a Famous First? --Biggtone23 01:32, 6 January 2011 (EST)

I say we just strip it down to the links and take out the pro/con arguments. However noting the campaign is worthwhile. Blyleven's supporters and campaign to get him in have been a significant ongoing story. --Jeff 02:13, 6 January 2011 (EST)

I've tweaked the article a bit, changing the tense of some verbs, but I think the section on the campaign is relevant. He is the first player whose election to the Hall was largely the result of an internet-based campaign, and it was a major news story from around 2006 until his election yesterday. I doubt he would have made it without this very public effort on his behalf. --Philippe 08:49, 6 January 2011 (EST)

As he wasn't really European (raised in the US), I don't think we need a "Famous First." I wonder when we'll see a real European HoFer - even if Greg Halman or Alex Liddi becomes an All-Star, I doubt they'll make it to Cooperstown. - --Mischa 09:06, 6 January 2011 (EST)
