Different Ramon Ortiz presumably. - --Mischa 20:34, 29 December 2008 (EST)

Here's his bio from the 2008 Cards Media Guide:

"for the first time since 1995. He had spent the previous three seasons in the Dodgers organization and was hitting coach for the GCL Dodgers last season. In 2006, he was with the Vero Beach Dodgers. Ortiz spent six seasons from 1999-2004 as a coach in the Tampa Bay Devil Rays’ organization. From 1999-2002, he coached with the Devil Rays’ Single-A Hudson Valley club, followed by a two-year stint at Single-A Bakersfield (2003-04). The Venezuela native started his coaching career at the University of Central Venezuela (1983-85). He then spent nine seasons (1987-95) as a coach in the Cardinals’ system, followed by a three-season coaching stint (1996-98) in the New York Yankees’ organization. Ortiz, an outfielder, played five seasons of professional baseball in the Montreal Expos and Minnesota Twins systems." THis is for reference should someone want to make the page. - --Mischa 21:07, 29 December 2008 (EST)

There was a Ramon Ortiz in the Expos' chain in 1969-1970 and with Key West in 1972. The other two years and the Twins affiliations are missing though [1]. Does Doyle differ? --Jeff 21:55, 29 December 2008 (EST)

Doyle lists him as "Alfredo R. Ortiz" and shows him with Sabinas of the Mexican League in 1971. Could be bio inflation. - --Mischa 08:28, 30 December 2008 (EST)

I'm sure that's our guy. Giving him all the benefit of the doubt, maybe the Twins signed him and loaned him to Key West. Key West was a co-op team. And that leaves us with four years, not five. --Jeff 10:32, 30 December 2008 (EST)

One year isn't too bad an exaggeration, especially if he might have gone to minor league training camp with them one other year. It certainly beats the resume inflation of someone like Perry Hill. - --Mischa 10:41, 30 December 2008 (EST)
