My name is Alan StrangeJr., Alan Strange was my father. Your info left out all the years he played in the minors. His last year was 1959 as Manager of the Seattle Raniers. One interesting note, in the early half of the 20th century most minor league players made more money than major league players and the majors were not West of the Mississippi. Dad left the majors to play in the minors 1) to make more $$ and 2) to play year around. He was drafted back to the St.Louis Browns and never forgave Hornsby for doing it, the move cost him 10K a year quite a sum in those days. I came along after his major league days were gone however I grew up in a dugout and probably saw more professional baseball fron the dugout than most people have seen on TV. Dad loved the sport right to the end and I never heard him express any regets except going back to play for Hornsby.
