It was actually Craig Lewis that won the Junior College player of the year award for the 1996/97 season. Craig is a native of Sydney, Australia and won the award while attending Wallace State College in Hanceville, Alabama (under coach Randy Putman).

This is incorrect. See the 2001 Baseball Almanac, pg .389 for instance. Craig Lewis was an All-American, but not POTY - --Mischa 07:50, 17 May 2011 (EDT)
