30 European national teams in competition for spots or already clinched - wow. Could you imagine how low the #30 Asian, African or even American team would be? - --Mischa 09:27, 7 July 2008 (EDT)

I'm confused, there's a European Cup and a European Championship? What's the difference? Is one through the IBAF and the other one through the CEB? Oaktree_b 23:24, 22 November 2009 (EST)

The European Championship is for national teams - ex. the Dutch national team - composed of players who have citizenship (or at least a passport) from the given country.

The European Cup is for individual organizations like the Rouen Huskies.

So, using an example you're more familiar with - Team Canada would play in the former event if they were European while the Toronto Blue Jays would play in the latter.

As a result, Italian teams with former major leaguers are more competitive with Dutch teams in the Cup, though the Dutch teams tend to beat Italy in the Championship as the Italian teams have to rely on guys with Italian passports.

OTOH, Great Britain has a weak league and doesn't send teams to the Cup, while their many "ringers" help them play well in the Championship.

Hope that helps. - --Mischa 09:41, 23 November 2009 (EST)
