[edit] Biographical Information

Tal Abernathy pitched from 1942 to 1944 for the Philadelphia Athletics.

He was at Elon University at the same time as Ed Sauer.

Abernathy was up in the majors in September of 1942 after going 8-6 with a 2.61 ERA for Wilmington. He was back at Wilmington in 1943, going 16-10, and came up again to the major league team. In parts of 1944-47 he was with Memphis, and came up to the majors in 1944.

Primarily wore number 37.

In 1948 Abernathy managed the Reidsville Luckies (Carolina League) and New Bern Bears (Coastal Plain League).
