Teams from Taichung won the Little League World Series in 1981, 1988 and 1991. The Sinon Bulls are based here. Taichung was the site of the 2008 Final Olympic Qualification Tournament. Shin Min High School and Shi-Yuan High School are here.

Sheng-Chin Hung, Jung-Tang Kang, Wei-Hua Lee and Fu-Hao Liu were born here.
