The Tacoma Yankees were the New York Yankees affiliate in the Pacific Coast League in 1978. Prior to that, they had been a Minnesota Twins farm team known as the Tacoma Twins. In their only season, led by skipper Mike Ferraro, the Yankees posted an 80-57 record and were league co-champions. In 1979, they switched affiliation to the Cleveland Indians and became known as the Tacoma Tugs.

* Albuquerque defeated Salt Lake City and Tacoma was tied with Portland 2-2 when series was cancelled due to rain. Albuquerque and Tacoma were declared co-champions.
