The Sun Belt Conference was founded in August of 1976 with New Orleans, South Alabama, Georgia State, Jacksonville, North Carolina-Charlotte and South Florida participating in four men’s sports: basketball, golf, soccer and tennis. The Conference is located mainly in the Southeast from Louisiana to Florida, but has had schools from New Mexico and Idaho as members, and currently has Denver as a member, but not in baseball.
