The Monterrey Sultans were known as the Monterrey Industrials until 1950. The team had won four titles in the 8 years before the name change - afterwards they went into an 11-year drought before winning the Mexican League championship in '62. They would also capture the total in '91, '95 and '96, taking 46 years as the Sultans to match what they had accomplished in 8 years as the Industrials. The name was also used by a team in the 1972 Mexican Center League.
