The son of former big league outfielder Al Bumbry, outfielder Steven Bumbry followed his father into the pro ranks. He was selected by the Baltimore Orioles in the 12th round of the 2009 amateur draft. He made his pro debut that summer, hitting .234/.342/.391 with 55 strikeouts in 128 AB in 45 games with the Aberdeen IronBirds. He began the next season with the Delmarva Shorebirds.
