Stephen Carr Smith

Pitcher Steve Smith was selected by the San Francisco Giants in the fifth round of the 1983 amateur draft and played for the Great Falls Giants that year, going 8-3 with 107 strikeouts. After missing most of 1984 with an elbow injury, he won 8 games for the Fresno Giants in 1985. He finished his pro career in 1986 with the Phoenix Firebirds.

After retiring, Smith was a graduate assistant at Texas A&M University (1988-1989) while working on his master's degree, then was an assistant coach at the University of Mississippi for five years (1990-1994). Smith has been the head coach at Baylor University since 1995 and led the team to the 2005 College World Series.
