Steve Phillips (GM)
From BR Bullpen
[edit] Biographical Information
Steve Phillips was the farm director for the New York Mets from 1992 to 1995, then assistant GM in 1996-1997. He was promoted to the General Manager of the Mets from July 1997 to 2003.
In 2005, he became an analyst on ESPN's Baseball Tonight, also working ion the Sunday game of the Week with Jon Miller and Joe Morgan, until forced to resign in October 2009 because he of an extra-marital affair with a 22-year-old production assistant. It was the second time in his career that such allegations had been leveled against him; in 1998, he had been forced to take a leave of absence from his position with the Mets when a woman filed a sexual harrassment lawsuit against him. After his firing from ESPN, he entered a clinic for sexual addiction rehabilitation.
