Steve Ontiveros was signed as a 2nd round pick in the 1982 amateur draft by the Oakland A's and scout Frank Franchi and scouting director Dick Wiencek.
Ontiveros succeeded Bruce Hurst as pitching coach for the Chinese national team. He was with them for the 2008 Olympics.
