Steve McFarland was the head baseball coach at his alma mater, Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo from 1984 to 1993. After spending time as a coach and manager in the Florida Marlins system, he has been in the Chicago Cubs organization since 1999. He spent 2006 as skipper of the Boise Hawks of the Northwest League, a club he had previously managed from 2001 to 2003.
