[edit] Biographical Information

Steve Christmas was born a couple weeks before Christmas in 1957. There was probably no snow to make it a white Christmas that year since he was born in Orlando, FL. One of only two major league players to come from Southwestern Oklahoma State University (the other is Ray Burris), he was there in 1976-1977. He signed with the Cincinnati Reds in 1977, and came up to the majors with them in 1983. A catcher, he later appeared briefly for both Chicago teams, the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago White Sox.

His only career home run came on September 16, 1984 as a member of the White Sox, against the Minnesota Twins. Mike Smithson was the pitcher. The White Sox won 7-3.

He was the same age as Ron Kittle, his teammate on the White Sox, and Leon Durham, his teammate on the Cubs.

Christmas played for ten years in the minors. He hit .300 three times, twice in Triple A in the American Association. In 1982 in the American Association with Buffalo, he hit .298 with 16 home runs.

One could put him on an "all holiday team" with Luke Easter, but it might be tough to find enough other players to fill out the lineup card.
