Steve Biras not only hit 1.000 in his entire major league career, he hit 1.000 in his entire professional baseball career. He was signed in August 1944, while working for the St. Louis Shipbuilding Company and playing semi-pro ball, and came up to the majors to get two singles in two at-bats. The next season, he was assigned to the Wilkes-Barre Barons of the Eastern League and he refused to report due to a contract dispute. He went back to shipbuilding for the rest of his life. He continued to play semi-pro ball. He died at age 43.
