Steve Adkins received his degree in engineering from the University of Pennsylvania. He primarily wore number 59.
Through 2010, Adkins is the only pitcher in the last 25 years to make his debut as a starter and give up no hits. He is the only starting pitcher in the last 50 years to give up no hits while losing his debut. (He did walk eight of the eleven batters he faced.)
