Cousin of Ron Perranoski, Stan Perzanowski was a star hurdler in high school before an injury caused him to switch to baseball. He came to the major leagues for 37 games spread over five seasons. Although he was a 16th round draft pick, he impressed enough that he made his major league debut at age 20 in 1971. His best year was with the 1975 Rangers at age 24 when he pitched 66 innings with an ERA of 3.00.
