Stan Hilton was drafted in the 1st round of the 1983 amateur draft by the Oakland A's. He played in the A's (1983-1987) and Cleveland Indians (1987-1988) systems.

Hilton was pitching coach of the Burlington (NC) Indians in 1989-1991 and the Clinton LumberKings (2004-2006). He was then pitching coach for the Fort Worth Cats (2007) and the St. George Roadrunners (2008).
