St. Paul Gophers
From BR Bullpen
The St. Paul Gophers were the only significant Negro League team from either St. Paul, MN or Minneapolis, MN. They went 3-2 against other top black teams in their best and last season, 1909, and claimed to be the western champions, a claim also made by the Kansas City Giants. Steel Arm Taylor went 2-1 for the team, which also featured his brother, Candy Jim Taylor (.188), at shortstop.
