[edit] Biographical Information
Brother of Dick Coffman, Slick Coffman was a pitcher for four years in the majors. Dick spent most of his career with the St. Louis Browns, and while Slick was with the 1940 St. Louis Browns, Dick was with the New York Giants that year.
Slick's best year was 1937 with the 1937 Detroit Tigers, his rookie year, when he went 7-5 on a team that went 89-65 and featured Hank Greenberg, Rudy York, Mickey Cochrane, Charlie Gehringer, and Goose Goslin.
Although Dick had a much longer major league career, Slick outlived him by over 30 years. Both of them were born, and died, in Alabama.
