[edit] Biographical Information

Outfielder Slade Heathcott was selected by the New York Yankees in the first round of the 2009 amateur draft with the 29th overall pick. He was signed by scouts Mark Batchko and Tim Kelly for $2.2 million and began his pro career that summer.

It took Slade a while to make his way to the major league, in spite of his draft status, as he only got the call to the Show in May of 2015. he joined the team in the midst of its worst slump in two decades, as they lost 10 of 11 games during a stretch in late May, with his major league debut coming on May 20th. They snapped the streak with an 14-1 win over the Kansas City Royals on May 25th during which he hit his first big league homer, a two-run shot against Greg Holland in the 7th inning. However, a mere ten days into his major league career, he was placed on the disabled list with a right quadriceps strain.
