Louisiana native Sid Gautreaux spent seventeen seasons in professional baseball from 1936 to 1952.
Sid was with the Brooklyn Dodgers for parts of two seasons in 1936 and 1937. He appeared in 86 games as a catcher and hit for an average of .247.
He served in the United States Navy for three years during World War II. The long-time player and minor league manager appeared in over 1,500 minor league games hitting at a .291 clip with 80 home runs.
