Shuichi Hirose played two years in the Japanese Professional Baseball League. Signed out of a try-out by the Yomiuri Giants in 1941, he debuted with a 8-4, 1.61 record and a .267/.267/.311 batting line. In 1942, Hirose hit .168/.200/.168 and played a little second base; on the mound, he was 21-6 with a 1.19 ERA in 242 2/3 IP of work. He was 4th in the JPBL in ERA behind Yasuo Hayashi, Victor Starffin and Takeo Kanda. Overall, he had gone 29-10 with a 1.32 ERA and allowed 186 hits in 348 1/3 IP and hit .199/.220/.212.
Hirose was drafted into the Japanese military in 1942 and died in combat during World War II.
