Shinsaburo Tsuboi

Shinsaburo Tsuboi played for seven seasons in Nippon Pro Baseball and is more notable as the father of NPB All-Star Tomochika Tsuboi.

Tsuboi played for Matsuda Auto Nagoya and Fujitetsu Nagoya in the industrial leagues after high school. Undrafted, he signed with the Chunichi Dragons in 1969. In 1970, he won the Western League batting title and went 4 for 28 with 3 walks and a homer in 18 games in 1970.

Tsuboi was 0 for 3 in 1971 and hit .200/.316/.215 in 51 games as a sub in 1972. The utility man was 1 for 8 in 1973 and 0 for 4 in 1974.

Tsuboi moved to the Taiheiyo Club Lions in 1975 and hit .136/.191/.205 in 48 plate appearances over 52 games. He batted .204/.259/.241 in 60 plate appearances over 58 contests.

Overall, Tsuboi hit .170/.257/.214 in 197 games in NPB.
