Sheng-Chin Hung was the second Taiwanese pitcher to sign with the Pittsburgh Pirates, doing so in July 2009; he followed Chi-Hung Cheng. Hung was signed out of high school. His repertoire includes a fastball (peak time of 91 mph), changeup and curveball. He made his pro debut on June 21, blowing a save in the 9th of a GCL Pirates-GCL Yankees game by allowing two hits and one run unearned. He struck out the lone out.
