Shaun Fitzmaurice, who had been at the University of Notre Dame at the same time as Ron Reed, was a rookie on the 1966 Mets, the same year as Nolan Ryan was a rookie on the team.
Fitzmaurice was signed Nov 18, 1964.
He played in the 1964 Olympics when baseball was a demo sport. As lead-off batter against a Japanese amateur all-star team on October 11, he hit the first pitch for a home run. Source: Baseball in the Olympics
