Sean McCauley played for three seasons in the minors then coached.

McCauley hit .597 as a high school senior. He had a scholarship offer to Western Carolina University but turned it down when the Kansas City Royals picked him in the 12th round of the 2007 amateur draft, one pick after Stephen Vogt (Steve Connelly and Mark Harris did the scouting). Sean hit .286/.375/.476 for the AZL Royals, while splitting catching with Salvador Perez. In 2008, he batted .278/.347/.385 and fielding .983 for the Idaho Falls Chukars, throwing out 36% of attempted base-stealers. The next year, he hit .222/.284/.299 only for the Burlington Bees to end his playing career.

Overall, McCauley had batted .257/.328/.369 with 30 doubles, 57 runs and 46 RBI in 127 games as a pro. He fielded .983 with 13 passed balls and threw out 35% of would-be base thieves.

He returned to the minors in 2013 as an assistant coach for the Potomac Nationals.
