Son of Ron Northey, Scott Northey played center field at the end of the season for the 1969 Kansas City Royals. His batting average, on-base percentage, and slugging percentage were above the team averages, and were roughly similar to those of the regular center fielder, Pat Kelly.

Northey missed the 1966-1967 seasons due to military service.
