 Biographical Information
Scott Budner is a member of the West Coast Sports Management staff and was a pitching coach for over 15 years.
A left-handed pitcher, Budner was selected by the San Francisco Giants in the sixth round of the 1977 amateur draft and posted a 3.36 ERA with the Great Falls Giants that year to lead the Pioneer League. Overall, he played seven years in the minors in the Giants and Baltimore Orioles farm systems, reaching as high as the AAA level.
After his playing career, Budner was pitching coach at Jacksonville University from 1988 to 1990 and was a minor league coach in the Oakland Athletics organization from 1990 to 1994. He was pitching coach of the San Antonio Missions from 2000 to 2004, the Inland Empire 66ers from 2005 to 2006 and High Desert Mavericks in 2007. In 2008, he joined the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx staff.
Budner was named the Seattle Mariners' Player Development Staff Member of the Year in 2007. He was named to the Eastern Connecticut State University's Hall of Fame in November 2008. He joined West Coast Sports Management, a Pasadena (CA) based baseball representation agency in December 2008. Budner, along with former Cy Young Award winner Bret Saberhagen, is responsible for evaluating pitching and recruiting for the agency, which has former baseball executive and Los Angeles Dodgers GM Dan Evans as its President and CEO.
