[edit] Biographical Information

Scott Munter is a relief pitcher who played for the San Francisco Giants from 2005 to 2007. He attended St. James/Seton grade school and Creighton Prep High School in Omaha, Nebraska. He then attended the University of Oklahoma, where he played first base, after which he transferred to Butler County Community College in Kansas, where he started pitching.

Munter was drafted by the Giants in the 47th round of the 2001 amateur draft. He was signed by scout Todd Thomas and made his pro debut that summmer.

Munter split the 2005 season between the Giants and their AAA affiliate, the Fresno Grizzlies. With the Giants, he posted a 2-0 record with a 2.56 ERA in 45 appearances, all of them in relief. However, he was hit hard at the major league level in 2006, surrendering 22 runs in 22.2 innings, for an ERA of 8.74. His control deserted him that season: he issued 18 walks, against only 7 strikeouts, during his time in the National League. He came back to pitch briefly in 2007, going 1-1, 4.22 in 12 games, but has not been back in the majors since, although he has continually pitched in AAA, showing enough talent that his eventual return to "the Show" is likely.

His nickname is "Big Munt" because of the fact he is 6' 6" and over 250 pounds.
