[edit] Biographical Information

A first baseman who had his best season in 1902, Scoops Carey was the first major leaguer out of West Virginia University.

Max Carey and Tom Carey are also sometimes called Scoops Carey, no doubt after the first Scoops Carey who had good fielding numbers.

In 1902, he hit .314 and finished among the league leaders in doubles and triples.

He was filmed in a "short" in 1898 while playing first base in the minors. The movie is called "The Ball Game".

He also played for Minneapolis in 1898.
