The Schaumburg Flyers are a Northern League team based in Schaumburg, Illinois. The Flyers are not affiliated with any Major League Baseball team. They play their home games at Alexian Field, formerly known as Schaumburg Baseball Stadium, off The Elgin O'Hare Expressway. The team was created in 1999 when the Thunder Bay Whiskey Jacks folded and moved to Schaumburg.
In 1999, the flyers hired their first manager, Ron Kittle. Ron Kittle most famous for his playing days with the White Sox. At the end of the 2001 season Kittle resigned. Jim Boynewicz was hired to replace Kittle.
