The Savannah Sand Gnats have played in the South Atlantic League since 1996, when the club changed its name from the Savannah Cardinals. Led by Adrian Beltre and Eric Gagne, they captured the league title in their inaugural season. They have been affiliated with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Texas Rangers, and Montreal Expos, and are currently a New York Mets farm team. Over the years, other notable Sand Gnats have included Carlos Pena, Travis Hafner, Hank Blalock, Kevin Mench, Ryan Zimmerman and Laynce Nix. The Sand Gnats play their home games at Grayson Stadium in Savannah, Georgia.
