Infielder Sanfrid "Sandy" Johnson played in the Pittsburgh Pirates system from 1959 to 1966, missing the 1963 season. He played his last three seasons in the California League and Carolina League, the highest he would reach.
After his playing days, Johnson was a scout for the Milwaukee Brewers from 1971 to 1974 and a minor league manager for the Brewers for three seasons.
