Brother of George Wright and Harry Wright, Sam Wright was a shortstop who had most of his at-bats for the 1875 New Haven Elm Citys who went 7-40. He hit .189 on a team that hit .219.
He also played 2 games for the 1876 Boston Red Caps, a team on which Harry Wright played one game and was the manager, while George Wright was the shortstop.
