[edit] Biographical Information
Sam Wise was a good-hitting infielder who played 12 years in the big leagues.
He broke in as a third baseman in his one game in 1881. From 1882 to 1888 he was a shortstop except in 1886 when he played first base more than any other position. From 1889-93 he was primarily a second baseman.
He struck out a lot (leading the league in 1884), but also could hit well. His best year with the bat was 1887, when he was in the top five in the league in both batting and slugging percentage.
The most similar player is his contemporary Ned Williamson.
