[edit] Biographical Information
Sam Mejias was an outfielder with a cannon arm. Unfortunately, he struggled to hit major league pitching although he did manage .278 and .286 as a part-time player for the Cincinnati Reds in 1980 and 1981, respectively.
After his playing career ended, outfielder Mejias managed in the minor leagues for a decade. He was the Seattle Mariners first base coach from 1993 to 1999 and joined the Baltimore Orioles in the same capacity for the 2007 season.
Mejias' brother, Marcos Mejias, was an outfielder in the Milwaukee Brewers chain 1973-1975.
