[edit] Biographical Information

Sam Harshany played for the St. Louis Browns from 1937-40.

Sam continued to play baseball in the Navy. Among his teams were the Great Lakes Bluejackets in 1942, managed by Mickey Cochrane.

His minor league career started in 1934 and, after interruptions by the major leagues and the war, continued through 1951, with a few games later in 1954. He was a player-manager from 1948-51, managed in 1953, and then was again a player-manager in 1954. In both 1948 and 1954 he put himself in as a pitcher a number of times.

His lifetime minor league batting average was .314.
