According to a Sporting News article in the spring of 1930, Sam Crane was convicted of the murder of his sweetheart and her suitor in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and was sentenced to a term in a Pennsylvania state penitentiary of 18 to 36 years. Other sources, indicate he was finally paroled in 1944.
