Ryan Searage had an outstanding season in 2005 for the Eckerd College Tritons. The St. Petersburg, FL native was Eckerd's starting designated hitter. Searage appeared in 47 games, starting 46. He had a batting average of .310 with 52 hits, including nine doubles, two triples, five home runs, and 34 RBIs. He stole nine bases for the season and totaled 25 runs scored. Searage led the Tritons in 2005 in both triples and RBI, and was second on the team in hits, home runs, and stolen bases. Searage was named to the All-Sunshine State Conference First Team as a designated hitter. Searage was also drafted in the 18th round, the 541st pick, by the Pittsburgh Pirates at the end of his 2005 season. He played in the summer of 2005 for the Williamsport Crosscutters, the short-season class A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates. Searage is the son of former major league pitcher Ray Searage.
