[edit] Biographical Information
Russ Kemmerer played basketball as well as baseball at Pitt but quit the basketball team due to coach Doc Carlson's complicated system.
In September 1958, the Washington Senators became the first team ever to lose four consecutive games by the same score (it was 2-0). Kemmerer lost the fourth game, giving up both the runs. The record has since been tied by the San Francisco Giants, in July 1961; the 2008 San Diego Padres are the only team to win four straight games by the same score.
